Want to learn how to fly an RC Plane ?

It may be easier than you think.

The club currently has 2 VMAA qualified instructors.

The MAAA has published a training program that provides the framework for the club to train those new to the sport. The training program provides assessment for a RC pilot to achieve solo rating and be able to visit other clubs on a National basis.

Yes it does take some time. It is a rewarding step by step process on the way to flying an RC plane as a solo flyer.

The club currently has a trainer plane available for instruction. The instructor and trainee control the plane with a buddy box system. This is two transmitters (controllers) connected together, so the instructor can pass control of the plane to the trainee at suitable times.

In the future the club plans to make a computer simulator available. This is a great way provide an introduction to flying RC planes before the actual flying starts.
