BRAG RC Model Plane Club

2024 2nd Annual Blue Rock Float Fly Event

Blog 2024-014-27 (updated 27-04-2024 - in progress)

Wow did the weather really put on its best behaviour for the two days and the days either side of the event.

At the start of the week the forecast was looking good, and it did not disappoint. Guests started arriving on early Friday to secure a good spot.

Some additional touch ups and mowing were undertaken in the morning and the afternoon provided for some good flying. There was plenty of help from the guests with the final set ups, and Scott fired up the BBQ with some free food and drinks as a thank you.

RC palne on water

Saturday 20 April 2024

Saturday turned out to be a great day for flying. Light to no wind and the water was flat.

Everyone woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs and the sounds of some early bird flyers.

It was a busy day of flying with a steady steam of planes making their way onto the water.

Saturday night was very enjoyable evening, sitting round and enjoying the activities of a few who decided to go night flying.

Sunday 21 April 2024

On Sunday the weather was a little overcast with a slight breeze that settled during the day.

Again everyone woke to the small of the BBQ.

Another great days flying.

Overall Stats for the weekend:

35 pilots

23 campers

50 plus float planes

150 Snags

105 Hamburgers

60 drinks

12 chuck gliders given away

and 9 great prizes drawn in the raffle.

Some of the younger generation having fun with chuck gliders.

Talking about catering, as usual the hamburgers were good, and the sausages were popular.

On the Saturday night, a fair few paid a visit to the local Irish pub for a meal, and refreshments, with all reports being good.

Overall a great weekend with the potential to gain 3 or four new members.

A big thank you goes out to the Main Sponsors.

Albury RC and Hobbies

Australian Forrest and Garden

Community Bank Trafalgar and District - Bendigo Bank.

IGA Trafalgar Thank you to the team at IGA for assisting with some of the catering supplies.

The MAAA was kind enough to support the event with a financial contribution of $750. Our application under the Club Activity Program was proceeded promptly and the funds arrived in a timely manner. As usual with any support, the contribution by the MAAA softened some of the conversations within the committee, especially in relation to anxiety around guessing the catering requirements, and general preparation and cleaning of the facilities and site in general. So again thank you to the MAAA.
